Jake and Stormy

I have the rewarding job of working with Jake, who has Autism. He is 8 and learning to talk, so we encourage him while he is riding Stormy. He moves around the ring and read words as he goes. The term 'walk on Stormy' is how we move from one letter in the arena (where words are placed) to another, and he has learned that this phase is also how we go to the next place, or leave what we are presently doing.

I got an email from his mom the other night and we wanted to share it:
Jake and Stormy

Dear Susan,
I thought you would love to know that tonight after Jake’s and mine nighttime routine, songs, books, etc. we went through some words together, and he tapped his head and said ‘hat’!! So, we went through some of the words you have been working on with him, then he said’ very soothing and softly, in a whisper, ‘Walk on Stormy’, and repeated until his eyes got droopy!

Know you are making a difference, as little as it may seem, hugs to you and Stormy for making such a difference in Jake’s life (and mine!)
